After finishing an MD/PhD, what is next. Residency and then a fellowship? Do people do Post-docs? I just need some paths that people are taking after finishing the MD/PhD. Which parts of the paths to a physician scientist (after the MD/PhD) are needed and which parts are not? Thanks in advance for your answers!

It depends on what you want to do with it. Short story: if you want to practice medicine, then you'll need to do a residency. If you want to do significant research, you should do a post-doc.

There's plenty of info out there on the web about this, e.g. http://www.mdphds.org/guide/postgrad.php.

Thanks, this was very helpful! It mentions that there is a research component to some residencies. Is there a website explaining this as well?or can someone explain these programs in more detail? I didn't see the reference for that statement on the website.

Research components of residencies and fellowships vary by program. There are "research track" (aka fast track) programs where you'll go through your residency training in a shorter period of time and then use some of it at the end for extra research during your fellowship years. Alternatively, some residencies will offer to fund a year of research at the end of it. If you search around the existing threads, you should find some discussion on the topic.
