path journals and conferences

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Here's a tip for how I keep up with the journals:

Pubmed can generate custom RSS feeds for any search. So, you can search for a specific journal, say AJSP, then save it as an RSS feed. Put the RSS feed into Google Reader (or whatever RSS reader you prefer) and every month, when the new issue is published, it will appear in your RSS reader.

Specific example: Put Am J Surg Path[JO] into the search box in Pubmed.gov. Click on "Send to" and select "RSS feed". Click on "Create feed" then click on the resulting "XML" button. Paste the resulting URL into the "Add feeds" box in Google Reader. Done.

It's an easy way to automatically keep up with lots of journals, as well as your favorite authors and any particular topic. I track AJSP, Modern Path, AIMM, Archives, Human Pathology, AJCP, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Transplantation, International Journal of Gyn Path, Hepatology, and NEJM (and some others), as well as a bunch of authors and a few custom searches. I can't say that I read all of the articles in depth, but I do at least skim over everything, looking for interesting articles.

You can also subscribe to RSS feeds through many journal homepages (although some journals don't have the option).
