Hello all,

I'm a pretty poor pathology applicant for the 2007 match. My academic record leaves much to be desired. I've had one interview in the midwest, and another scheduled in Texas for January. I've been rejected by 17 other schools (mostly small 1-3 slot programs). I'm still waiting to hear from 18 other programs.
At this point the scramble may be a reality. Can anybody give me advice on what to do? Does anybody know which pathology programs typically go unmatched so I can apply there?

Application season is closed - if you want to scramble you will have to wait until the two days before match day or whenever it is when the unfilled programs are released to you. These programs won't know they are unfilled until then either, so they sure as heck aren't going to offer you a spot before then because they usually don't fill, otherwise they would be interviewing and ranking more people.

the # of unfilled path positions has decreased quite a bit in recent years.....and it's nearly impossible to predict which programs will have unfilled positions, as generally they can occur due to a number of reasons (messed up rankings, undesirable location, or whatever else).

before thinking about the scramble, i would suggest to you, that you MUST concentrate on your upcoming 2 interviews. Make sure you gather up some confidence and try your damned hardest to make an impression. It only takes one program to match.....so you've got 2. make the most of it.

afterwards..if things don't go to plan; go into the scramble.

cheers!
