Hey guys,

Seeing the popularity in Pathoma (and I'm always in favor of stuff being broken down conceptually and taught, i.e.- the kaplan vidoes were immensely helpful digesting some fundmental stuff for 1st year), I was curious about how to approach Path for 2nd year and ultimately for boards.

I am kind of concerned with the whole Goljan RR book particularly because of how dense it is, which I don't mind it perhaps using as a sole source for path during school, but I think at the end of the road, it just isn't feasible to review RR path during study time. I just think there should be a point of diminishing returns when you try to read/retain a 600+ page textbook (thats like another FA) for boards and I don't have a photographic memory hence I learn best from conceptual videos, audio, and doing lots of problems than having tons of information.

Additionally, I think the disgruntling part, personally, is having to constantly switch gears between one source and another presenting the same material i.e.- it would seem more efficient to learn stuff from the year with one set of resources and use that same source for boards review...i.e.-> most people who annotate their FA during the school year can just use that for boards review and see the same material 2x, 3x times. This on top of other previously used sources (BRS phys during your physio coursework), FA embryo, FA biochem, and I would think that's equivalent to Goljan RR (a consolidated version of all these sources, am I right?)

Bottomline: Can an annotated FA + Pathoma (vids + lectures) + Goljan audio + BRS Physio (which I used in Phys last year) + Robbins Review (Qbook) be sufficient for your Pathology coursework and killing Step 1?

You could get a 265+ with FA, Pathoma, and UWorld. I'm sure you'll do very well with everything you've listed. I don't think there's a huge benefit from using Goljan audio as a primary resource if you're already using Pathoma. I'd use it as a supplement for when you're doing other things like working out or driving in your car.

My impression always was that Robbins questions are overly detail oriented. I think it's better for coursework than STEP 1 preparation.

there isnt much to say except that pathoma is great. He teaches in a way to give you the fundamental principles needed to think through the pathology questions. From classes / pathoma I've been averaging 80ish percent on uworld path

O and he is straight to the point. (important for someone like me who needs multiple repeats for the material to sink in)
