I can't believe they have stuff like that. What happened to personal creativity? That's why it's called a PERSONAL statement. The old man in me is saying, "In my day, we wrote our own personal statements! We didn't have proofreaders or expert opinions! And we wrote it out longhand in blood!"

My PS was kind of similar to the second one on that site. 😳

agreed. the WORST thing somebody can do is steal overall ideas from a generic personal statement.

but then again, medicine is FULL of people with no personality...so it doesn't surprise me.

the issue is that ((riririri)) ur not considering that personal statment thing might be a totally new thing for IMG ,,in my country ,iv never been asked to write a personal statement so i dont know what is the personal statement at all..and when i sample one ,,i can have a small idea of its components....its just rediculus to think that some one will copy and paste those samples ,,,isnt it????😱

Personal statements do not have a required format. That is why they are left vague and open to interpretation. It is up to you what to say, there are no real rules. It is your chance to say what you want to say to convince programs that you are going to make a good pathology resident and they should take you. Put yourself in their situation, what would you want to hear from an applicant?

During my second year, leafing through the personal statements of each applicant before touring them was a source of hours of entertainment.

it also made me feel better about having much lower USMLE scores

I really feel sorry for the people who have to read mine -- I hope this one page document will not bore them to death. My personal statement sounds like a letter of recommendation but just replaced "I" for "She".
