Hi guys...Great forum!

As a DO can you become a pathologist? If so, is it similar to MD residency matching? Does anyone want to become a pathologist?
Thanks in advance!

I just graduated from NYCOM in May....5 of my classmates matched in Pathology, 4 in allopathic programs and 1 in an osteopathic program. To be honest, I don't know how competitive a field pathology is, but if you do well on the boards, you should'nt have a problem in either match

I know that this has been said before on other threads, but it deserves a repeating.

As a D.O., you can go into whatever specialty you would like as long as your grades and boards are competitive for that field.

Pathology is a wide open field right now and you should have no problem finding a great residency spot in an allopathic program with a DO degree. Good luck.
