Just wondering how many of you out in the real world get patient contact via procedures (FNA's, Bone Marrow Bx's, etc...). Is this type of exposure fairly common or are their turf battles (ie between surgeons, oncologists, FP,...).

I would estmate that 20% of pathologist have 1-15 patient encouters per week.
1 % have more than that.
and 79% have less than 1 per month.

If you want to be in that 20% learn to do BM bx, FNAs and do blood bank...

I have gotten a call at home from a patient that wanted to update her insurance information. I have gotten two calls in my office from a patient I diagnosed with a MALT lymphoma. (He misdialed while trying to reach my secretary.) He was a really nice guy, but it was weird. Beyond that, no contact with patients in the last year.

A new oncologist was interested in having me do all his bone marrow biopsies, but in my current practice arrangement, it would be very disruptive to get requests for biopsies while on for frozens, so I turned him down. Maybe I should look into how much I'd get paid for bone marrow biopsies before I make that decision. Anyone know what kind of pay I'm missing out on?

I don't think you're missing out on anything. I guess it depends on the state, but I thought that in some states, you had to do a complete H and P on everyone that you do a bone marrow biopsy on, because it's considered a surgical procedure. I get the feeling that the compensation isn't worth the trouble. I know LADoc has posted about this before.
