hi guys, i schedule to take the DAT on September 10, which is 5 weeks away from today. I'm on a hard-cored study schedule. Currently i'm using Crack to study for PAT. I'm pretty much get the Key Holes, Top Front End, Angle Ranking, Hole Punching, and Cube Counting. The only thing that i have the most difficulty is the Pattern Folding section. I'm stuck at the flat surface folding with the different shapes on it. Those of you that have 20+ on PAT, do you have any tips or suggestions on how to get over the pattern folding section? i spend a lot of time ridiculously just to study this section. Instead of tremendous effort putting in, it turns out i still get more than 2/3 of the shaded pattern folding wrong. I'm stressed out, nervous and frustrated all at the same time. Please help me!!!!!!!!!!

make sure you are folding into the screen and not out. i didnt know that before hand and was getting most of them wrong...a quick adjustment and now i only get 2-3 wrong on cdp.

When you say "fold into the page", do you mean the edges move away from you, right?

Dude, Kaplan's final tests have it wrong. When you see their explanation, they fold OUT of the page so that the corners are lifting towards you! That's disturbing.

really? i have the kaplan final which i got from a friend but i havent taken a look at it yet...and yea i mean the edges move away from me. do you have cdp u can check out their explanations they are always folding into the page...

also i remember a previous thread where someone had mentioned kaplan folded out and then someone who had taken their DAT was like nooo man if u fold out on the DAT ull get most of them wrong and thats where i found out about folding into the page lol and its worked so far i usually get 12-13 on pattern folding on CDP.

For pattern folding. What I do first is look at the "big-main-shape" that the folds are centered around in the question. Then look in the answers to see which have the correct orientation.......this usually elimnates 1-2. From there, look at the orientation relative to the figure. For example, a traingle painted on one of the sides with a point facing up. The answer has to have this orientation...............b/c the side where the triangle is folded is not manipulated itself, but only folded to complete a figure. Hope that helps.

This might not make sense but it helps me to count "things" starting away from the big main shape to see where it folds. Also I'll sometimes imagine some parts as flat and just rearrange/shift them around like that

To DRHOYA and kayuza, when you say the big main shape, do you mean the flat bottom surface of the object when you fold the paper inward and then flip it over? i'm kinda confused
