Pay for Supplemental Apps????

Are they for real? Do I honestly have to pay another $50 for 2 pages of information. Some of the schools are asking legitimate info, but the Univ of Houston wants $45 for 5 minutes of typing. Anyone else think paying about $100 for an application to each school (after Optomcas fees) is ridiculous?

Yes it is expensive, but you gotta pay for the doctors to read your application somehow. Also, I think it's a good way to keep people applying to schools that they are truly interested instead of just checking boxes from the school list on OptomCAS.

Not entirely actually. Compared to the massive financial undertaking of Opto school, the app fee feels more like pocket change.

I can see the logic in that, but when $45 is food for 2 weeks that isn't a loan I am paying interest on I'd rather not be paying it.

I'm mainly just looking for empathy

How about I buy a $1.5 million dollar yacht so I can make the expense of optometry school not feel so bad?

haha..money is so relative nowadays. I shouldn't care how much I spend cause I'm already in crapload of debt- so whats an extra hundred bucks?

Yes, it is expensive, but as economists would say its an inelastic good in the sense we have to do it!

Sorry, I know i'm out of my element here (saw this was the last post on the main board) but hopefully my comment will make you feel a little better. I spent $550 on primaries for 11 schools (D.O schools) and the secondaries range from $60-$200 per school. It's ridiculous.
