Hello
I am a follower of SDN for awhile and am planning to begin my Post-Bacc studies this fall at San Diego State's Open University.

I have figured out that I can pay for tuition and books with a Sallie Mae loan. I am trying to figure how to pay for room and board expenses. The crux seems that SDSU's CES does not certify room and board expenses for loans.

Does anyone have advice, experience, or suggestions on paying for the rest through any loans or credit unions? Any options to get loans that pay directly to you once you are enrolled?
One person suggested to go into a bank to take out a regular loan?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You'll get raped in interest, compared to federal loans anyways. Also loan payments start right away and I doubt they will give you one with little collateral.

I suggest you go to their financial aid office and ask for some advice. You might qualify for student loans through private institutions for a post-bacc.

The advisor is the one who suggested that other people in my situation have taken out private bank loans.
Federal loans are not available. And not sure what private institution I would be able to register as a non degree seeking student.
I appreciate the advice.

hi,

I am in the same situation but at a different post bac (csu East Bay). I spoke to the financial aid at EB and they, too, told me the same thing. Only solution we have is private bank loans (fml) :/

I think the best bet is the credit unions or your local banks............... just thinking about private bank loans... ugh.. makes me very very very depressed.. -.-

but anyhow, gl to u. keep ur head up and lets do well in post bac programs. 🙂
