Hello everyone,

I'm a predental student applying for fall of 2006. I was just wondering if you all had some advice about paying for school, providing for your family and paying a mortgage. I know there are private loans out there. I was wondering if there were other alternatives?

Thanks alot

Most of my loans are through the government (now that I am a resident 😀 ). My school also has a Health Professions loan that some of "us" qualify for. I'm not sure how it is at other schools, but here you pretty much just sign your name on the line, and they deposit "your" money into your school account. For me this includes living expenses, and my wife also works some so that we have some discretionary income.

From what I have seen, you shouldn't worry about the money, there will be a lot of debt, but if you really want to do it, then it's worth it!

What the previous poster mentioned was right on the money. Federal loans will cover a good chunk of tuition (perhaps all of it) and anything else that is needed will come from private loans. Many schools already have lenders they use, so you merely sign your name on the line and receive the excess funds.

Under the title of "educational loans," you can only take out the max that is allowed by the student budget at your school, and the school will authorize (or not authorize) any such loans.
