Can anyone teel me what is PBL?
What schools offer it?
What are the benefits of it over regular curriculum?

Thanks

jpn,

PBL stands for problem-based learning, and it's a different style of teaching dental material. Right now only three schools in the US utilize fully-integrated PBL curricula: Harvard, Indiana (where I am), and USC. Without getting into too many grimy details, our PBL sessions are useful from both knowledgeability and professionalism angles. If you want to know more, give me a PM and I'd be happy to tell you all I can about it.

PBL students may do a bit better on the NBDE 1 when it changes format in a couple of years, since the format will be more like what PBL students are accustomed to in the sessions.

Just a thought.

BTW, this is nothing that students in traditional curriculums wouldn't be able to overcome with a bit more studying, or even less studying for that matter! 😉
