I'm studying for my PCAT and I just had a few questions pop up while I was studying....

1.) Will a Periodic Table be provided, I can't believe the Kaplan book didn't provide one.

2.) I know that a calculator won't be provided so I'm assuming the calculations for the chem section wont be too difficult, am I right to assume this? B/c the kaplan chem calculations w/o a calculator would take me quite awhile to do, 60 or so ?'s, given 30-35 mins, there is no way I could do some of the chem problems in time w/o a calculator!

3.) Can someone who took the PCAT already post an example of a chem question they had, a question that includes math.

If I think of anymore ?'s I'll be sure to let you guys know, hahaha 😀

1) No, but you won't need one. Just know things like periodic trends (across rows, down colums, etc.), common names of preiodic groups (Halogens, Noble gasses, etc), common atomic weights like for H, O, N, etc.... That's about it.

2) No calculations are not difficult, the main thing is just time. Be able to QUICKLY convert to Molarity, g%, etc. Practice by learning how to round off when appropriate... It's easier to divide by 10 than by 9.9... things like that.

3) A Barron's book has exactly the types of chemistry calculations that are on the PCAT. I thought the Barron's problems were harder than the PCAT, actually. My problem with the Chemistry section (I got a 87%ile) wasn't that the problems were hard, just that I was rusty and couldn't do them FAST enough. Drill practice would have helped. Time is the issue.

boy i think that you are right! i did have enough time to check all of the sections though. time is of the essence and so is endurance!!!
