Okay guys and gals...

Since the PCAT has changed quite a bit since I took it, I would like to get feedback from you all about the PCAT FAQ that is posted at the top of the forum. You guys taking it now and those who took in the last year are the experts and know what is on it and what needs to be studied. If you have any suggestions on anything that should be added to the FAQ, comment in this thread.

I'll appreciate the input! 🙂

Hey, FutureRxGal -- I lived off your FAQ this summer... 🙂

Under Preparation Tips, you might want to mention the newest version of Kaplan -- PCAT 2006-2007 (Kaplan PCAT) -- that is supposed to be out at the end of the month. Also, someone mentioned a new book: Reference Guide for the Pharmacy College Admission Test PCAT (Paperback) by Manan H. Shroff. Not sure if that one's good, but it gives applicants another option to study from. To all new test takers -- read that FAQ and good luck. 👍

Question... since you guys have taken the PCAT, is there a lot of probability and statistics and questions involving Venn diagrams on it? The Kaplan book doesn't explain prob and stats at all. I'm talking about these types of questions:

Three coins are tossed up in the air. What is the probability that two of them will land heads and one will land tails?

Also, is the anatomy part of the biology section mostly devoted to human anatomy or is there other vertebrate anatomy?

I really appreciate your help! 🙂

I don't want to say no stats, however I really didn't feel probability and stats was emphasized on the PCAT. At most, maybe a question or two that simple reasoning would nail down. NO Venn diagrams. As for anatomy, it's mainly human, but there might've been a few other vertebrate on the exam I took.

If you know what's what in Kaplan, you'll do very well on the biology section.

I got the Kaplan 2006-2007 book now. It's pretty good so far because it is an updated version made for the new PCAT. In the math section, it includes statistic and probability as well as pre-cal and cal. Calculus is all about derivatives and a touch on integrals. The pre-cal and cal section in this book gives you velocity, derivative, limit, indefinite integrals, definite integrals, etc. It looks like they cover "enough" materials though.

The book is out already. I bought it on Amazon for 29.70 but you can get it at a cheaper price now.. Probably $28? I highly recommended!

Definetly definetly Calculus word problems, the chapter about related rates in Anton's book was good. I don't know if the new Kaplan has any.
