Most schools are on rolling admission. I'm wondering if taking the PCAT on Oct. 3 vs Sept 4 would make much of a difference for admission. Delaying a month would give me more time to study and produce a stronger app, but that doesn't do much if all the spots are taken.

The school's I've called tend to say no, that their preferred date for competitive rolling (not app. deadline) is Oct or Nov anyway ...yet they won't look at your app until PCAT scores are in.

I figured you guys can give me a more realistic answer based on experience. So what do you think? How long will it take to actually score the PCAT? Will delaying a month drastically hurt my chance for an interview/admission?

Thanks guys! All feedback is appreciated.

taking the PCAT on 09/04 or 10/03 depending on the deadlines of the schools you want to apply. Remember, in general, Pearson needs ~ 4-6 wks to send your PCAT score to PharmCAS, which then will take sometime to update your PCAT score on your application. All this and the rest of your application have to be in and completely updated and verified by PharmCAS before the deadlines for the schools to consider your application. That is, if your application is not complete or missing anything by the deadlines, your application is considered late by the schools and will not be considered for admission.

You should worry about missing that deadlines of Oct/Nov. In addition, the later you turn in your application, the more you hurt your chance of acceptance as seats are being taken as the admission is rolling forward.

So, you need to do whatever you have to do (quitting jobs, staying late, not going in out, etc) to prep and take the PCAT and have it send in and have your whole application completely updated and verified by PharmCAS before the deadlines, which you say is Oct or Nov. The sooner the better to give PharmCAS enough time to do that.

My vote is for Sep 4 if that is the earliest date you can take the PCAT.

why not sign up and prepare for the 9/4 date and push it back if you need more time? You are able to cancel your test date before the day (check the date info yourself as i'm not 100%) of the test and receive a refund so that would be my plan.
The refund is only 50% ($100). It is my reserve plan if I feel unprepared, but I am already in the $ hole from all the apps.

Definitely early, September is the last round of exams to be considered for 1st round of deadlines on Nov 1st
