I don't know, but at my interview last week they said they received "significantly" less applications this year because of the PCAT requirement. I think that means less California apps and it also gets rid of those who are scared of the PCAT.

Thank Summitguy98,
So you were at the interview last week? how was it going?...
As you said, many Californians applied for this school in the past just because of no PCAT there. Why not the other states applicants?
Have you heard any thing from Dr. DE YOUNG??

The interview was great. As far as states go, the interview was overwhelmingly Utahn even though there were students from as far away as New York. I think there may be a stigma surrounding Utah, but I am only guessing. Dr. DeYoung was the person that said apps were significantly down because of the PCAT, and no...no call yet.
Hi everybody,
Who knows how USN will count PCAT score on to select students for class 2013.
This cycle they changed policy to require PCAT!
Thanks
I did hear a rumor that it doesn't appear to be factored heavily but I wouldn't put much faith in that. I do know that your interview counts for 2/3rds of your point total so if you get an interview, consider it your time to make the sale.

You know i hope because my interviewers told me I did a good job on site.
I wonder if any California schools will follow suit.

And I wonder if USN is going to keep the PCAT. I know that at last year's interview, they seemed very proud of the number of applications. They made a point of announcing how many applicants there were. I think there were around 1800 applicants for 200+ spots. Now I hear "significantly down" with no number attached and I wonder just how low it went and how they are handling it.
Do you know exactly why there was a significant drop in apps? I dont see why requiring the PCAT would have that dramatic of an effect if many schools already require it... plus I thought USN had academic forgiveness or something... that seems like it'd attract a lot of people to me.And I wonder if USN is going to keep the PCAT.
