Yes, the school has developed a new curriculum to help students understand the material consistently while being able to be in clinic as soon as the first week you begin. The class of 2022 had gone through a substantial curriculum review which maintains PCO's goal of early clinical exposure as well as extensive preparation tools to not only prepare students for Part 1 but still get the early clinical exposure PCO is known to provide traditionally.
Since the changes have been made, the pass rates have gone up significantly. Changes include having the students remain on campus from January to March while taking Part 1 and still remain in clinic one day a week. With the support of peers and faculty by remaining on campus, the stats have shown major improvements.
The Traditional Program for the Doctor of Optometry degree at Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry follows a legacy that began in 1919, when PCO created a four year degree program that set the standard for all other institutions of optometry that exists today.
