I have recently been accepted to both schools and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to choose between the two. I would love to know why current students may have chosen either school over other acceptances during their cycles.
Thanks for the reply. Being affiliated with the PA campus is a huge reason why PCOM-GA is appealing to me. PCOM has a great reputation and I feel that this may help when applying for residency. I wonder if PCOM-GA students have access to the PA rotation sites during 4th year? One thing that concerns me is that PCOM-GA is one of 5 med schools in GA and thus is competing for quality rotation sites. I also love the city of Atlanta and don't know much about Indianapolis. However, I have heard good things.I would say Pcom ga. Not to far from from Atlanta. Little brother to PCOM PA and their expertise/access to some of their resources. It's a new school but has advantages that mucom doesnt.
However Mucom is fairly well put together its also a good choice and if you prefer that location definitely go there.
Either way couldnt go wrong pick based on location. Put it this way if you were to move to a new city which city would you pick?

Also, can any current students comment on the curriculum at PCOM-GA? I believe it is systems based? If so, what does that mean exactly? I have an idea but would love some more insight.
Thanks for the reply. The curriculum and research opportunities are very appealing to me as well. I also got the feeling that the faculty and staff were top notch and the fact that Marian is one of two med schools in the state is very appealing. I wonder if there is any way to find out what the average board score was? I'm also curious as to if the newness of the school will hurt in terms of applying to residency?
any cons of MUCOM?Yea, that is definitely another reason I'm excited to be attending. I, sadly, don't know the average board score. I will ask one of my friends if they know.
I feel like applying for residencies from DO school is going to be similar across the board. When applying for MD residencies, I don't think they will know much difference between DO schools, they're mostly going to see that you have a DO. Of course, more established DO schools have been sending students to these residencies for longer, so they know the schools' names, but I don't think going to a new school will put me at a HUGE disadvantage. If I work hard enough and do well on boards, I think I will match into what I want to.
Also, I'm from the Midwest, and people around here already know about the newer medical school in Indiana. When the time comes, there will definitely be recognition of the school. Also, 3 other classes will have matched before the class I will be in, so hopefully most things will be sorted out.
Overall, I was scared of going to a newer school, but I turned down acceptances to older, established schools for MU-COM. I have confidence that this school will be successful.
At the end of the day, though, you should go where you feel comfortable. It is a huge decision, and you have to remember that you can give your efforts to whatever school you want to. It should be where you feel happy and supported.
any cons of MUCOM?
Haha no not yet. I'm having a really difficult time choosing between the two. I will say, MUCOM continues to impress me with their communication from admissions. It seems they really have their stuff together, which I hope is an example of the rest of the staff. It is a long way away from home though, which is making the decision difficult. PCOM-GA is great also so I just keep going in circles.@C3H6O3 have you decided yet?
