PCOM students please HELP!

I was recently accepted to PCOM and just paid my deposit. After visiting the campus again today I left wondering, where the hell am I going to live? I realize that it's in a city and there are a myriad of options, but I'm sure that some of the options available are much better than others. I am very unfamiliar with the city and I wanted to know if anyone can help me out with this; what and where the cheapest places are, where the most fun places are, what is most convenient, etc... Thank you so much to anyone who can help out.

I ended up buying a two bedroom place so i may not be much help, but there are tons of places to live....the key is to be able to get to the school without using I-76 (cant spell skullkihyl). Personally, I would say avoid anywhere with a philadelphia address because you can save ALOT on autoinsurance even being across the street from the school. If you live in Philadelphia choose manyunk, parkings a pain, but the social scene is fun. Most people live within 5 miles of the school. I have heard people pay from 750-1200 for their one bedrooms and this is fine. Be comfortable where you live. Loans get paid back easily so might as well spend money to make yourself comfortable. I think the school is including a bunch of apartment lists in the binder they are giving all accepted students.

Student Affairs will usually mail out a packet to incoming students sometime in the summer listing popular places that students have stayed in the past - including whether utilities are included or not, estimated travel time to school (walking or car), average rent, etc.

If you do not want to wait till the summer, you can always stop by Student Affairs at school. They also have a book of students looking for roommates. You can either do a search or put your info down. However, I would not expect a lot of sign ups right now (January 2006) for your class (Class of 2010) since it is quite early.

How far is Cherry Hill, NJ? My wife says it is real nice and is close to Philly.

I'm an alumn. Cherry hill is probably at least 45 min to 1 hour drive commute. It's just over the bridge to the east in Jersey.

Nice places to live for PCOM (if you have family): Chestnust Hill, suburbia-Jenkintown, Elkins Park. Also the Mainline area although probably a little expensive there. Even West Mt Airy is fine and close.
