I think you mean physical education courses.

Usually there is a variety to choose from. They can even be things like ballroom dance. Not all colleges require them. I'll let other people answer the question because I've never taken any.

Took yoga and social dancing (so much fun), and it was graded on a A-F basis. I mean, yes, PE courses are kind of known as GPA boosters around here, but there was a final exam. It wasn't hard, but there was one. Most of your grade was participation and effort and such.

I'm taking fencing next semester! I'm so excited!

PE classes were graded from A-F and counted for 1 hour of credit. It was virtually impossible to get anything but an A in them. 2 classes were required.

So as long as you try your best it does not matter even you run slower than the other guys ?? You gonna still get an A ? 😕

What are you planning on majoring in? 95% of majors don't require any kind of physical education courses, the exceptions being kinesiology and PE teacher education.

I never had to take them but at the CC I went to they offered them by sport. So you could take a semester of Golf or of Baseball etc. I think they were pass/fail. I imagine they will be different at all schools like other classes are. They certainly aren't required 99% of the time. In fact I have never heard of them being required for anything. Just a fun thing to take if you are interested.

Any majors in the university I am planning to go require 4 hours of physical education cources.

Really!? Weird. Are those Canadian per chance?

It's an american thing ...

PHYSICAL EDUCATION ACTIVITY*4 hours
  1. Any physical education activity course(s) or HLTH 1012
  2. Intramural sports (not to exceed 1 course)
  3. Intercollegiate athletics (not to exceed 1 course)
  4. Any of the following Military Science courses: MSL 1012, MSL 1022, MSL 2012, MSL 2002, MSL 3013, MSL 3023, MSL 4013, MSL 4023
(Each of which will satisfy one hour of the Physical Education activity requirement)

My school requires two semesters to graduate. There are many options and they are graded on a pass/fail basis. On top of that it is really just based on attendance so as long as you don't miss a ridiculous amount of classes (7 I think) you get a P.

Check your course description page at this link: https://mycu.cameron.edu/ifas7/home/campus/public/CourseCatalog_CU.aspx

Select "PE" from the drop-box at the top-left of the page. This should tell you more about the courses. You can also call the "PE" department at the school and ask them.

At my undergraduate institution, EVERY major required two semesters of PE.

I wonder if it's because of what body is accrediting the degree program, or if it's just up to the discretion of the school. I've skimmed over a lot of degree programs in my state and some in surrounding states (just for fun ), and I never remember seeing any required PE courses.

I might be thinking of a different college, but I think Cameron "athletic" courses can also include courses like "baseball theory" and stuff where you never even have to get out of your chair. I know some people who go there that probably couldn't run around the block if their life depended on it, so if you do have to run, you won't be last.😉 I plan to take beginning gymnastics for my athletics next year...that should be fun. 😀

Are you still planning going to Cameron Glowworm ? 😎

Yeah, I probably will. The only place that looks really exciting to me is Stanford, and I have 0% chance of getting in, so I guess I'll just stay home and save money :/ Have you decided on a college?

St. Olaf college requires 2 semesters of "Studies in Physical Movement" which is dance or phys ed. The classes are really easy so long as you show up and show improvement over the semester.
