I hope to get some information about being a pediatric gastroenterologist. How much you guys know about this subspeciaty? Is it the hottest fellowship choice now, like in IM? How hard to get into it? How about the job market? What is the average level of the salary? Is it at the same level as that of adult gastroenterologists? Any information will be very much appreciated.

Hey Seniorguy! I have been on this forum for a couple fo years now, but never git to come across your thread! I also happen to be interested in applying for Peds gI fellowship. Some of this infor might be helpful to you: Peds gI is definitely more competetive than the others, ranks only next to peds cardio, but no way close to adult GI!
Also, the paychecks are awesome!
esp, if you get associated with some good hosp and companies, you can make some huge bucks. But, again its a lil less than adult GI.
I am second yr peds resident in NY and just might apply by the end of this year.

what about you?
