I'm a general dentist that's completed a residency at a VA Hospital (no experience with kids here), some private practice experience, and six months working with kids in a mobile clinic. I am two years out of school. I had 83 on part I and 85 on part II boards, my gpa was roughly 3.2. I am thinking of applying next summer to pedo school, not this one, so i can gain more experience with kids (I will stay at my job with the mobile clinic) and pay off more of my student loans. Do you think by next summer i will have what it takes to apply or should i apply this year. also, should i retake part I boards? thanks.

I'd just apply if you are sure you want to do pedo. You can always apply again next year if you don't get in... Do a search and you'll find more people with a similar question.

From what I understand, if you passed the boards, you can't take it again, as of Jan 2010.
So just apply, and hope for the best.
