Hey everybody,

I've commented a few times about some A/I questions, but I was just wondering if anyone knew how many IM vs peds residents go into A/I. For the most part, I heard that it had really changed and people were mostly going the IM route. How does one get enough research experience in residency-I'm working 80 hours a week and trying to work with different attendings to get a project done and its killing me!! I just wonder if the IM residents have more time for research or if their programs give time off for projects-like an elective or something.

I was told that A/I was hugely competitive and you have to do research and have AOA and be the best and brightest, but no one here at my program in the last three years has even considered this field. Maybe I don't need to kill myself to get there. Any advice? I have a pretty decent Step 1 score, ok Step 2 score, no AOA, but I did get some honors in some classes and 3rd year electives. I also have an allergist myself in town who's my doc who I'm thinking about asking for help from. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, 🙂
