Step I Peds and Step II

My question is akin to the Q re: Psych and Step II.

How important is it to have Peds under you belt prior to Step II? I'm planning on taking Step II after Medicine w/out having taken Peds yet. Manageable?

What short book(s) would you recommend to get me up to par for the Peds section of the exam?

Any good books for a short-term Peds review? Especially if you haven't done a peds rotation yet.
