There are a variety of Peds Hospitalist jobs out there - just take a look at the back of the Pediatrics journal! The thing to be aware of is that a "hospitalist" may mean you cover wards, newborn nursery, ED consults, PICU, NICU, delivery room. You may have in house call. Each position is SOOO vastly different from one another you have to be careful when considering these positions. At my residency we have two pediatric hospitalists who primarily just do inpatient wards with the residents - they do not cover private practice or subspecialty patients. They also have a variety of research and administrative duties.
Peds hospitalists are growing in demand as private pediatricians are handing that role over. Definitely take a look at the website mentioned previously.
