Hello, I am wondering if anyone has heard of an applicant getting into a peds (or a similarly competitive) residency after spending a significant number of years out of medicine? I am trying to coordinate army, family, and medical life! Thanks for the input.

Would think it would be hard. However, if you are 4-5 years out of Yale or Harvard med school and with high USMLE scores, I would say you'd have a decent shot. 4 years out of a Caribbean school or less well known US school, and it would be a lot harder. Also, what have you been doing in the interim?
