I am studying for Peds right now and I really do not feel like memorizing all the different developmental landmarks and immunization schedules. Are these hot topics on peds shelf? I have seen mixed reviews from classmates so I wanted to see what good old sdn had to say on the matter! Much appreciated!

i took my shelf a few months ago. no developmental questions at all. there was one regarding immunizations...not schedules, but rather looking to see if you knew which ones were live vaccines and which were indicated/contraindicated in a certain medical condition.

Total waste of time memorizing all that. I was really surprised. I think there was one very general development question (Tanner stages, I think). Know that you DO give MMR to kids with HIV. There were several other Q's about kids/moms with HIV, transmission, diagnosis (HIV PCR, not ELISA for the baby), treatment.

Good luck!

THanks guys! what a relief. I swear every test for the past few years-step 1, pysch shelf, years 1 and 2 tests-anything somehwat dealing with these issues, I always had atleast a couple people scare me and tell me that stuff is big and I always get scared so I spend like 1 minute starting to study it but realize i HATE memorizing that so I dont end up doing it and it hasnt showed up on any test yet but i figured if it was going to , it was going to be peds so that is a big relief. Thanks for the info!! much appreciated! catman

I remember one developmental questions and zero immunization questions. This is too dynamic of a topic (the schedule changes all the time). I was surprised there were no more developmental age questions.
