Pending Candidate - NSU-COM??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got the same letter. I feel like it is not a positive sign nor a negative one. Maybe we survived the giant sweep of rejections they will most likely send out soon, but have not qualified for an interview yet or if ever. I have no idea though just my thoughts!

If you don't mind my asking, what were your stats?

Good luck!! I hope we both get in. Nova is my #1 choice!
Good luck to you as well! I live very close to them so it would be great to get an interview! Think we should call to find out what this letter really means or just let it go?

Not quite sure. I feel there are two sides to it. If we call, we seem interested, but we could also come off as desperate.

What did it say?
It said something along the lines of ......"Thank you for applying to NOVA. We are having a difficult time on deciding who should receive an interview from a highly competitive applicant pool. Your application has been moved to pending status. This means that your application is active and is going to be seriously reviewed. The application is not ranked but it is active. Please send updates.." It sounds like a waitlist for interview to me. I think a wave of rejections or interview is coming up because they haven't had either or since august.

The wave of rejections came out the same day as that letter. I know multiple people that received letters of rejection in the mail.

When did you guys got the letter? I checked my mail box last night and nothing was there but I live very far from Nova so maybe it's taking longer to get here? Omg I'm so neurotic!

I got the letter Wednesday! pretty sure that receiving no letter is better than getting one!

I got mine Wednesday too. I applied really early (mid july), as did everyone else I know that got a letter. If you applied later, they probably haven't even gotten to your file yet. That being said, the saying goes: No news is good news.

I applied in September and got the letter. They didn't even have my MCAT score officially on the date the letter was written. Either its basically a we aren't rejecting you yet letter or maybe they sent it out to everyone that did not get rejected. Who knows as it is a weirdly worded letter to begin with!

I'm treating it as a waitlist. Since I don't have a pending MCAT and I'm not enrolled in any classes, I will send in "additional experiences" and maybe another LOR. I hope that my extra effort will push me over to the interview range. As someone from CA who has family from Florida, this will be my only opportunity to let them know.

Are we able to send in additional LORs? Like if we send them the maximum LORs initially, but we got this letter, can we send them extra?

I think that's a great idea!

What is your opinion on sending in updates for planned experiences...such as being accepted for a summer research experience, or just starting with a volunteer organization but don't have many volunteer hours yet with it kind of deal?

I got this letter as well. I'm looking at it as a positive, because like some have said, there have been tons of rejections sent out by this school.

We are the survivors!

I'm going to send them an academic update and experiences update after my semester is over in December. That is assuming that Matthew doesn't decimate the school. That would be unfortunate.
