Penn Interview Invite!

On a second thought, I just got the second brochure and invite today! My app was sent out June 12th so when I hadn't gotten one in the handful of weeks I figured they looked over my app and chose otherwise - guess I got lucky.

Oddly enough, the envelope was post marked Aug 07th. Ouch, 20 day turn around really puts the snail in snail mail.
 
How many of you have gotten your confirmation reply? I received the interview invitation in early August and am hesitant to bother Corky since she's really busy.

I also received my interview invitation in early August and my interview is scheduled for Oct. 5th, but I haven't received a confirmation yet. I was wondering whether to contact her as well.
 
Has anyone else not received the confirmation packet yet?
 
Got their brochure in Mid August, but still NO interview...I didn't know getting an interview at UPenn would be more challenging then getting one at Columbia...but I guess I was wrong....
 
My interview confirmation letter does not have the date of my interview listed on it. Has anyone had the same problem? do we have to write out the date?

For the people that got interviews to UPenn....did you get an invite imediately after the first brochure???? or did you have to wait a week or two???
GOD I really want an interview with them!!!
 
I just received my interview confirmation packet. Do I need to call up again to get an interview time or what?
 
no, just fill out that confirmation letter and u r good to go👍

LOL! We're in the exact opposite situation. I got a UPenn interview, and nothing from Columbia. I reeeeeallly want an interview there! I expected not to get interviews at some school, so i should just stop freaking out, but blah! It sucks!
 
Wow Lolalola...You got interviews to BOTH UPenn and Columbia. You must have stellar stats and alots of research...Congrats! 🙂

I know what you mean...I didn't expect to get interviews to EVERY school I applied to either...haha..
I just really want interviews to UPenn, Columbia and UNC...oh well 2/3 is good enough I guess....:laugh:

What would embody "research"? Is that different from shadowing experience?
 
No research isn't shadowing. Shadowing is just observing or assisting a dentist. I was a Biochemistry Major in college and I did research on Enyzme Kinetics and got published once...
But I am NOT sure if thats what got me the interviews...I am just guessing that some schools that are research heavy properly want students that have research experisence and publications....

I got my second brochure about 3 weeks ago. Today I just got another letter from them. I was hoping for interview invitation, but it is just to tell me that my application is completed. Did you all get that letter after 2nd brochure?

YEah, I got that letter a few weeks ago after 2nd brochure.

Relax! I interviewed there last cycle and didn't get the invite until January.
Of course I never made it on off the waitlist - but that's beside the point.
 
When did you apply though? (if you applied late then a January interview is reasonable.) I am worried b/c I know people that applied AFTER me and got invites already...does that mean they skipped over me?? 😱

I'm at third year at Penn, and I can tell you that sometimes it takes a while for Admissions to get back to you. The school is having its site visit for accreditation soon, and that has probably slowed down the admissions process as the school has been reviewing lots of its policies. Be patient, invites will come.

Accreditation did slow down the admissions process, so don't worry if your invites seem a bit late compared to other schools. And, also, Penn interviews for regular seats in the incoming class through March - the school does not make a mad rush to fill it by December 1st. Best of luck everyone!

Me too!! I hope those who have been on interviews thus far are willing to share your advise...please post on the interview portion of this site, thanks guys!!!
