I have an interview at Penn State for their Early Assurance Program in 2 weeks. My GPA is around a 3.6 and I have been an EMT for almost 4 yrs now so I am hoping that this wins them over. Any advice for the interview??

I interviewed for EA program and was then accepted. The interview was nothing to worry about. Its split into two sections. I don't know if you have a morning interview or an afternoon. Mine was afternoon so this old guy showed us around the hospital while the other interviews were being conducted. The interview itself is largely conversational. two out of my three interviewers didn't ask me any questions. I talked about Israeli politics with one guy and how sweet sabbaticals are with the other guy. Dr. Davis interviews everyone and he is the most intimidating because he doesn't react to any of your answers. He just asks very basic questions you should be prepared for: why medicine? favorite class? favorite activity?

If you're a penn state undergrad, you should have no problem getting in. my interview group was like four kids from upark and a couple others from some small school in the boondocks of PA. those kids didn't have a clue. the kids from penn state were on point and most of the ones I talked to afterward said they got in.

just stay calm and relaxed and keep the conversation flowing and you should have nothing to worry about. good luck!

How does early assurance work? Are you required to attend if accepted, or are you free to apply to and interview at other schools?

yea, you apply after your sophomore year and if you get accepted they expect you to attend. its not that binding, you can get out of it but I wouldn't push your luck. the best thing about this is you get accepted without mcat scores. if you get accepted they say you have to get hershey's average but i'm thinking if you get 9's on each section, you should be good to go. overall its a pretty sweet program if you're set on going to hershey. only like 12-15 people apply and 6-8 of them get accepted. too bad hershey is the most expensive state medical school. bummer

I know this it's been a while, but when did you guys get your letters from Penn State? After my EA interview they said I would hear back in early August. I still haven't seen anything from them. I've been on vacation a lot since the interview and just wanted to be sure it A. didn't get lost by someone picking up our mail or B. isn't coming at all.
