What's your favourite pen to fill out all those damn paperworks? Anything you particularly like- writes smooth/fast/legible, easy on your fingers etc?
What about the drug rep pens-do you feel like providing them w/ cheap advertisement?
Any thoughts.. 🙂

My favorite two:

1)Pilot VBall Grip (0.5): extra fine, rolling ball pen that helps me write legibly, neatly, while cramming info when needed. Dries fast so less smudging. Only minus is it has a cap.

2)Pilot G2 0.7): fine point, gel ink. Also very good, with less smudging with the gel - supposedly. This is retractable, so no cap issues.

Not a fan of being a pawn of the drug companies, but you can always scratch off the ad or cover if so inclined. My dad used to do this. 🙂

PS No, I don't have a pen contract with Pilot, but I'm willing to listen.

I collect drug rep pens (I think it's fun). But most of them write like crap.

I like the Pentel RSVP (I have a ton because that's what my lab uses). There is another pen that I love that I use for addressing cards, invitations, etc, but I don't know its name, nor do I have it with me. But the ink can smudge if you brush it when wet...

Gel ink pens (Gel RT, etc) have one distinct advantage: the writing cannot be washed off a prescription slip or a check with solvent.

To forge a script or a check:
Place tape over the signature and DEA # on a prescription for something like percocet.
Place said paper in a bath of solvent like peroxide or hypochlorite.
Typical ball-point ink will wash off, but the tape will protect the signature.
Remove tape and dry.
Fill in desired quantity of oxycontin or demerol.

This came from an article written by Frank Abignale, the real-life check forger (and now fraud security expert) on which Leonardo DiCaprio's character in "Catch Me If You Can" was based.

The Gel RT writes pretty sweet too.

Very funny. Anybody try this? Not for the script/check, but to see if you can transfer writing this way?

I thought the new universal triplicate forms have all sorts of safeguards against this kind of fraud now?

Anyone know?

Never seen triplicate forms for scripts or checks. Med paperwork yes.

Pilot P-500 or P-700

I was thinking about this too. I'm leaning toward the one of the Fisher pens: AG7 or CH4. Kind of pricey but they write at any angle and even on latex gloves.

Great tip....some day I am going to ck this out 😀
Thanks for all the input. Personally I also don't like drug rep pens, but they are so ubiquitous, somehow they land in my pocket. My favs-pilot V5/ P500 and cross ions(they are kind of pricey, but has a futuristic look).

Actually I slit my finger and signed each residency form with my own blood. I figured they would get it one way or another so I offered it up to get it over with...

<-----pen obsessed.

The Pilot EasyTouch, Medium point for me.

drug rep pens blow.
