People with 2+ Acceptances

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yeah, what's the deal with these people with 2 acceptances? That seems pretty greedy. I think they should give me one.

Whatever your choice, dont hold on to them too long (unless you're really undecided) as a courtesy to other applicants! Please!

Have you already decided who is your first choice over the two? If you have, when is the timeline to let the other school know?

Well, the problem is that some folks with multiple acceptance have to wait for financial aid packages. Each school is different about how much money they can give for scholarships, financial aid, etc. Of course folks will not hold onto acceptances at places that they would not go but still does not mean that they will give up all the spots....

Agreed. If they gave me financial aid info with the acceptance, I would be able to turn down schools within a few days. But I cant do anything til I know my financial aid status.

Well, I have gotten two acceptances so far, and expect another two in a couple of days.... but I'm planning on holding on to three of them for a while. This is partly because of financial aid reasons, but also partly because I just don't know which one I would prefer to go to. All of these are my 'safety' schools, and I haven't really given that much thought to which would be the best because I guess i'm hoping not to have to attend any of them.

I know this must sound greedy to some of you guys, but I promise to definetly withdraw my acceptances to at least one or two of them in the next month or so.... I just don't feel comfortable tossing out acceptances just yet.

Does this mean until Jan. when you can do your FASA?

Oh, I am so sorry that I never answered your question. Yes, FAFSA can be completed as soon as you have done your taxes and your parents too (many med schools will require parental info regardless of age...) but medical schools may take until March or even April to let you know of what is/can come your way as far as financial aid goes. So for example I have four acceptances right now and may get some more (who knows) but there are two schools for sure that I will withdraw my application from (no point in holding on to those), the other two I will hold acceptances until whenever any of the following take place a) I know financial info b) regardless of financial info I *know* that I would go to that school because it is my first choice or c) I am tired of waiting around and want to get the ball rolling (selling house, moving family, etc...). So those of us that will be holding to multiple acceptances is not because of any frivolous reason there is are reason for the madness.
