After hearing so many people get accepted, it is frustrating for those of us that have yet to hear a thing. I personally have only one interview in March. Is there anybody else in this boat except me? I am pretty much thinking the game is over for the 15 schools I have yet to hear from. What do you guys think. Lets all share in our sorrows together. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

Well I applied to the UCs, the boston schools (except harvard), tulane, slu, nymc, finch, pitt, u of chicago, usc, temple, ohsu, albany, mcp, and einstein.

And when did you apply? I'm still waiting on 13 schools because I applied late.

Don't get frustrated...it's not that SDNers are sooooo much smarter than everyone else, just that those like us don't post it as often as those who have been accepted. I'm sure there are still plenty of people waiting to hear from schools.

I know how you feel. Today I was going to post a topic to all new SDNers who have no acceptances to not read anything on this site until accepted, because it has made me obsessed and depressed...anyways, as you can see, I'm bitter. Good luck to you, and let us know how things go.

With so many applicants for so few spots, it's always a crap shoot. So good luck.

Thanks Foxy.

I applied late as well, however the frustrating thing is if most of these schools stop interviewing in March, I am assuming if you haven't heard by middle of february you can consider your chances pretty remote. I mean even after the interview there is an evaluation period for a large number of applicants so I am assuming that would kill my chances at a lot of the schools i am still waiting on.

I guess you have to look at what's the worst that could happen. If you don't get in anywhere, then you find out from the schools where your weaknesses are and apply again after building up your application again. I have a friend who didn't get in anywhere on his first try. He is now working on getting a MPH (Masters in Public Health) before reapplying.

Well thats a good route, however guess what? I already have my MPH, and I have been working as a healthcare consultant the past two years. I know right now my GPA is probably hindering me, I had a 3.4 biochem, and a 3.7 in MPH. MCAT of 9,13,11,S. If I was to reapply again i am not sure what I could do to make it stronger considering there is only 6 months left before apps start all over again.

How late did you apply, nray? I would think with your stats your chances would be great; a 3.4 in biochem is not bad, in my humble opinion. Have you called any of the schools to see what your status is? One school I was waiting to hear from had not received my premed recommendation letter, and I would have never known if I hadn't called them. I hope you hear something soon! 🙂

Nebula, I applied pretty darn late, like before deadlines. I know, I completely shot myself in the foot however i work like 70 hour work days (consulting is a stressful biz). I think the most shocking part of this whole process is that, U. of Cincy offered me an interview like 2 days after I turned in my app. I was completely shocked, however my interview is pretty late middle of march so I am not sure how much space will be left in their class by then. I think my stats are a little low considering I am a CA resident, but I thought for sure my other work experiences, masters, volunteer work, lab and clinical research and policy work would have helped me.

At least you have one interview. Remember it only takes one acceptance. I have a friend at the University of Washington Medical School who applied late last year and this was his one real chance. He got in at the end. So keep up that stiff upper lip.

If you haven't received an interview, please post when you submitted your secondaries and the number of schools you applied to.

My last secondary was mailed out on Dec 20th near the absolute deadline for most schools. I applied to Finch, Loyola, UIC, Rush, MCPHU, Michigan State, Meharry, Morehouse, Howard, UNC-Chapel Hill and BU. I got a pre-secondary rejection from MSU-CHM. So far that's all I've heard. Other than an MD/PhD rejection from UIUC Medical Scholars Program pre-interview. I'm still in the game at UIC Med though. I've yet to hear from the other schools. I'm beginning to get worried though!

ugrad: 2.8
grad: 3.67
MCAT: 10V,11P,10B:M

lots of research-related stuff, papers, posters, and a talk at a conference. in addition to the usual volunteering and extra-cirrics.

I hear you imitiaz. Keep the chin up, by the way the last day to apply at some schools were Jan 31, which is when i got my secondary in. I know I am totally shooting myself in the foot but really it was out of my hands. Anyways the way I see it, if we don't hear from any schools (we meaning late applicants) then I think its safe to assume that most schools will be wrapping up their interview process in March. I think if we haven't heard by the latest, third week in Feb, most of us are out of the running for interviews at some of these schools considering they probably give prospects at least a few weeks in advance of the interview.

imtiaz,

I'm not sure about the other schools that you applied to, but I just got back from my Meharry interview (it was on Feb. 8th) and I remember the admissions lady saying that they would be interviewing through April. Their secondary isn't even due until Feb. 15th. I also completed a Moehouse secondary and have yet to hear anything. Hope that helps.
