I'm a new EM intern, and I am having a hard time deciding between PEPID, 5M CC, and 5M Emergency Consult (Rosen's).

Everyone on this forum seems to love PEPID. I realize it's a great resource, but I feel that between my epocrates, ABx guide, and the plethora of med calcs out there, I really don't NEED everything on PEPID. Also, I don't think it's very user friendly. I just want a good medical info resource if I want to look up a topic quickly.

Anyone have any advice on the pros/cons of 5MCC or 5M EM Consult?

Thanks!

5M EM CC is ok and has a lot of great info but what sucks is that you have to keep switching between programs. I love pepid cause it is a one stop program, plus it has those really cool anatomy illustrations.

This is true...the anatomic illustrations are pretty sweet.

If you're going to spend money on any database for your PDA, it should be Pepid. The features are the most expansive (excellent evidence-based clinical summary, calculators, dosing/drips/concentrations for drugs [esp helpful for peds and crit care], ACLS guidelines/resucscitation algorithms], illustrations [esp the vision chart] of any database and everything can be found within 5 seconds. Most of the topics can be read in under 2-3 minutes and the sub-headings make jumping around easy.

Plus, they don't tie you to any one platform. They have palm/winmob/blackberry versions as well a site designed for cellphone/wireless device access.

Just about the only thing I'm not wild about is the price (160/yr or 280 for 2yrs), but they do indeed do constant work on the product.

Get Pepid.

I also vote for pepid. I like the On Card option.
The one thing I found misleading and terribly upsetting is that there is NOT 24 hour support as they would have you believe. Of course, the ONE time I needed them, I was out of luck.

Thanks for the advice...I guess PEPID is the way to go. I just hope none of you work for PEPID!
