Hi all!

I am new to SDN, and would love some information on Pepperdine's PsyD program. I am applying for Fall 2008, and wanted to know if anyone has gotten in and what their stats were (GPA GRE Scores, etc). Any thoughts on the program itself?

Also, are there any alternatives in the Los Angeles area? So far, I have only found Alliant, which has not received the best reputation, from what I have read on these boards...

Thanks in advance for all of your great advice!

Not sure if this would be an issue in your case, but Pepperdine's Psy.D program requires entering students to have a Master's degree. It's not one of the typical doctoral programs where you earn your Master's on your way to the Ph.D/Psy.D. Also, the program isn't housed on the main campus, but on a branch of the campus in L.A., which was a big drawback for me when I first looked at Pepperdine several years ago.

But if you have a Master's, want to live in L.A., and can afford the cost of the program, then Pepperdine is one of the better places to go in that area I think.

Great program, very good faculty. And the staff seem very nice, no nasty/blah/or monotone people answering those phones. It's sounds so petty and ridiculous, but when you're from thousands of miles away, something like that does make an impression🙂

No but..it is a very good program and you DO need an M.A. (either in Psych or a related field), but they can accept up to 30 credits from your M.A. and they are very clinically-oriented (even for a University-based PsyD)...think they were a 2 in Insider's...
