Does anyone know a ballpark figure on that percent you need to get correct in each section to get in the 19-20 range?

Also, is your academic average just an average of the scores made in the 5 academic sections, or is it a weighted average of the 5 sections (as in: Reading has 50 questions while Math only 40, so the Reading score counts slightly more than the Math towards your Academic Average)?

Those figures are in the free DAT booklet from the ADA. You should really get it. The Kaplan DAT book also has the breakdown

Speter,

I kind of forgot already and it will vary from the test you get that day...but I think about 36/40 correct on bio will get you a score around 20. As for Chem, O-chem with 30 Q's.. if you get like 3-4 wrong, you will hit around a 20...but this is just a rough scale..

Your academic average is based on bio, g chem, o chem, reading comp, and math where each section has equal weight. For the NS ave., just take out the math score.

For a 20 in each section here is how many you need correct:

QR: 29-30
RC: 37-39
Bio: 34
Chem: 26
O-Chem: 25
PAT: 70-73

i dont' know how they calculate the percentiles.... it doesn't make sense to me because i heard dental schools don't even look at those. if this is true then how can the dat be a fair test?
