What percent of the hospitals that you originally applied to were you INVITED to interview at?

Trying to get an idea of how many places to apply to, to get to the magical 15-20 interviews.

It's going to be pretty hard to generate any good data on this issue for reasons too extensive to comment on here. Although the perspective is skewed, I would check out radiology.matchapplicants.com as it will give you the number of invites given to people with stats that are better than, equal to, and worse than yours (and even this isn't going to help as much as you'd like - there's just too much randomness in this process). Alternatively, ask upperclassmen that you are familiar with how they did with regards to non-regional interviews and the like.

One last word of advice to everyone who may read this thread: although you want to be smart with your money, if there are programs that you are really excited about, apply to them. It's better to know that you tried.

I applied to a little over 100 and interviewed at 15. I wasn't that strong of an applicant. Matched at my number 11 place. Don't skimp on applying. The money is negligible in the long run.
