...There are a plethora of medical dramas on tv enticing adolescents to pursue med school

That's the only reason I signed up, being a doctor is cool now!

MCAT is offerred a crapload of times now.
The application is electronic now.
Today, there's more college educated people who can't find satifactory jobs without getting a graduate level degree.

yeah, things have definitely changed. whenever i have talked with doctors i shadow, and even my personal docs, about the application process, they all tell me: 1) that they were accepted to nearly all the schools they applied to; 2) that tuition was like $4-6K per year; 3) that all you needed to be competitive were good grades and a good MCAT; and 4) that the admissions offices were very friendly and helpful in answering questions about their applications.

but all those guys and gals are pretty old now and they had to walk to school in the snow, uphill, both ways.

when did they apply tho thats the thing

I turned in my AMCAS June 1st and finished all my secondaries before August. Didn't receive a single interview invite until December and got another 7 invites since the new year. Applying early doesn't necessarily mean you will get in with good stats or get early interviews.

Yes, applicants of 2011-2012, there is reason to fear that you are not good enough on paper.

Eh you have a way better chance than applying later. And yeah it doesn't necessarily but I wouldn't base it off of your experience. Your mcat is nice but your sGPA is a bit low and cGPA is middling which is probably why you weren't looked at for a while. Plus you were applying OOS to some state schools which already put you at a disadvantage. Last but not least being asian in the medical school game is even worse than being white....

3.46/34... you only had a 2/3 chance of getting in somewhere to begin with. TBH, while your MCAT is excellent, your GPA was weak and if your PS, ECs, etc. weren't strong, then I can certainly see where you would be interviewed later. Submitting early increases your chances for an early interview but it obviously doesn't guarantee anything.

I don't know why, but I am mildly flattered that you looked up this information about me from my previous posts.😍

Ha no problem I just wanted to see if there was some big reason why you haven't done so great this cycle. It looks like it was just a bunch of smaller reasons though...but applying late wasn't one of them. Hope you get off the waitlist at the places you're waiting for!
