I think it is possible to get an interview with your scores, but they are below the average. One concern that I see is that you were committed to pharmacy for 3 years. I think that when you have borderline scores, you really need to stand out in terms of your commitment to optometry. It's better to commit yourself to an internship or work experience related to optometry rather than simply shadow a couple of docs. I think the best way to increase your chances of acceptance is to re-take the OATs and raise your TS above a 330 and get everything else above 310. If possible, take one more class and get your GPA above a 3.0+. g'luck!

i know it looks like i was committed to pharmacy, but i actually never pursued it. It's just my job, it just happens to be in a pharmacy! whatever though, the input is much appreciated.

i think with a gpa at 2.99 you need to take the oat again. also, how early did you apply? i hate to sound discouraging but applying very early will put you at a higher advantage

I would definitely retake the oat and make sure you write amazing essays- then its good🙂 and of course you are currently slaving away on your finals to push up your gpa right?

i have to go study the anatomy of our body.... i hate the omohyoid and the sternohyoid and the thyrohyoid and what;s the other one...... sternothyroid? ahhhhhhhh its not the theory but its how to locate it in you oh i mean not you on the specimen.....

i prolly wont take the oats again and instead focus all my energy on up'ing my gpa. i feel the scores on the OAT will suffice if i can match it with a higher gpa

I think it's easier to up the OAT than the GPA. Put out 2 full months to study and get a good score rather putting years to up the GPA. Your OAT right now is below average.

I second. and concur.

And your OAT actually carries more weight than your GPA. If you can nail the OAT it will make up for a bit lower GPA. You really need to raise both though and apply early.

I agree. My GPA is below average too and I knew I had to get pretty good OAT scores to offset it. When I took the test I only had one semester left of college (this one right now) so I knew even if I got a 4.0 it wouldn't raise my GPA a whole lot. It'll be easier to just retake the test and get a really good score!
