NASA’s Perseverance rover is headed to Mars. It left today, July 30th. It will take 7 months to get there. It is a good name for the journey some of you are taking now through January ... and beyond to next summer when you'll matriculate. Keep this in mind as you patiently wait while the earth makes its annual trip around the sun and Perseverance makes its long journey to Mars that all this takes time and it won't happen overnight. Primary, secondary, interviews, offers... be patient. Perseverance will pay off.

Definitely. I attended my first interview on October 8th.... by end of January I’ve been on 5 interviews, and had 2 WLs, 1 hold and silence from the other two. It was so heartbreaking. Then last week of February - 3 acceptances in one week. And finally, my “golden” one on April 23rd. So be patient, everyone .

Just got verified yesterday and my inbox is flooded with 20 secondaries; I needed to hear this. Thank you.

As someone who is currently a third-time reapplicant, I really felt this. This journey's been really taking a lot out of me (emotionally, mentally, and financially), especially as I'm seeing my close friends already starting their first/second years in med school. Ultimately, I just have to keep reminding myself that this is my own journey, and I'll do what needs to get done to reach my goals.

This was my 3rd time applying too . Don’t lose hope

If interested, you can see the launch at the 56:35 timemark here:

I watched the 7:50am EDT event wearing my Mars 2020 t-shirt, with NASA mug in hand.

Disclaimer: Space nerd here.

As of July 2020, the Curiosity rover is still active, while Spirit, Opportunity, and Sojourner completed their Mars missions before losing contact. So Perseverance won't be all alone on Mars.

The rovers will not be all alone regardless.

The Martians have been biding their time.

process is super random. I received 2 invites in sep, 1 in nov, and 2 from totally random schools in jan literally 15 mins in between each other

Perseverance landed on Mars today! Will the rest of us reach our desired destinations? 😳:nailbiting:
It depends if you survived the seven minutes of terror..

You are flying 127 million miles away.. “ The Journey “
It takes you 11 minutes to receive a Radio signal.. “ Autonomous “
Managed to withstand the entry “ not sure about med school “ HEAT of 2100 Celsius !
Managed to slow down your speed from 12500 mile/hour “ Premed Journey”
Able to deploy a supersonic 70 foot parachute “ Academics “
Protect you nuclear battery for the next 4 years “ Perseverance”
Able to journey your new home and Drill material well “ STUDY”
And take cool pictures along the trip to share with the world..

Who knows.., you might find ancient life and invigorate new Life in this new world..!

What I want to know: who submitted in July and got an admission offer this week?
Do you mean submitting July and getting their first admission offer this week?
I submitted in August and got my first acceptance in November but got two acceptances last week. Waiting impatiently till March for the rest.
