I transferred to my current school with gpa of 2.8 after 5 semesters from my old school. I currently have around 3.7 gpa at my new school after 1.5 semesters (including summer school). I was just wondering how much effect the old gpa is going to have on my acceptance to dental school when I apply in a year. Is it going to bring my chance down greatly? Hope some of you can answer my question. Thank you!!!

Keep the GPA up, get some dental extracurriculars and do well on the DATs and you'll be fine.

yea just make sure you keep acing those classes. The GPA from your previous school will certainly bring down your gpa and in effect decrease your chances, but since you have a 3.7 from your new school and you keep it up do well on DATs etc.. You will be fine.

Yeah it will bring down your GPA.... mine is still down from just one bad semester. But dental schools will see that you are getting better and that maybe switching schools solved the problem. It is really important to them to see improvement over time so you should be ok. Just make sure you do well on your DATs.
