Okay, I entered my PS into ERAS - its under one page, but there is one word in the paragraph which goes onto the next line....ONE WORD! And I tried to delete two words above (I guess smaller ones) in the paragraph and it still wont move up.

I am wondering, when we click on "Print PS" in ERAS, is this the way it is going to appear to the program directors or whoever prints it out?

I am wondering the same thing - If I didn't have the stuff at the top that we get when we print, mine would be on one page.

Any insight from anyone?

Try highlighting your personal statement and then "Print Selection" if your printer gives you that option. Mine fits comfortably on one page when I print it that way.

Mine doesnt, and its 750 words. Also I think the font size is different when you do it this way. But it was a good idea - thanks!

Hey ResMD 😉,

Did u format the PS appropriately before you entered it. In other words, did you follow the instructions as to how you're supposed to change formatting?

Honestly, 750 words should fit appropriately...

G'luck,
A

Hi Ariee (I noticed the wink and I think I know the reason 😉

The interesting thing is, when I paste it into textedit (on a mac) or MSWord and format as per aPDs directions (0.3-0.5" lateral margins, 0.8" above and below) it fits into one page. But when I enter it into ERAS, the same words take dont fit into one page (in the printout). Hence I was wondering, is what we see in ERAS finally, exactly the way PDs will see it, margins and all? Or does it get realigned?

I think the other issue is many of my 750 words are long..

So, I think if you have followed the instructions on the ERAS website, you know those redwords that are underlined as to how to convert the files, like you said, then what you see is what the PD will get, I think...Although there was some debate about bullets in ERAS earlier which totally flew over my head about formatting. (Seriously it was like another language). But, I recall reading that what you see after proper formatting (not what aPD said- no offence, b/c I don't really understand how he/she came up with those guidelines) is what the program will see.

Now honestly, if you've got huge words in there like supercallafragilisticexpialladocious, consider putting synonyms that will be shorter.

So, not to be a rebel, my PS is 1 1/4 page and I've tried to cut it shorter (and have) but that is what it is and I'm leaving it at that, b/c I want the PD to get a sense of who I am and I've got some impt stuff to let him/her know about me. I mean my CAF is probably more than one page, so I will extend this logical thinking to say if I got to take up another page then I just gotta do it...although every source I've read and heard has told me to keep it at 1page...I know...do what you got to do man/woman!

Yes, you hit the nail on the head with the wink 😉...

A😛

P.S. Anyone else have any other suggestions...
