My friend is reapplying and she wants to be the early bird. However, she's still stuck trying to re-write her personal statement. What kind of things should she mention to the admission committee (reasons, motive for reapplying...ect., ) so that they'll re-consider her with sympathy? Her last statement was a little impersonal and dry, may be that's why she got rejected.

I dont know. But I think if she is reapplying it would be wise to mention it, and also write about how she has worked on "bettering" herself in this year between application cycles.

I dont think that should be the bulk of the essay, but definately something to include!

good luck!

....maybe you should stop referring to yourself as "my friend". Do people still have friends write stuff on chat groups for them?

P.S. Will you go out with my friend Joey? Check yes or no.

P.P.S. Adcoms don't care about your essay unless it sucks beyond all that which sucks.

Thanks DMD for your input. And VegasBaby, may be it is my friend who needs help since she does not have an account with SDN and may be I'm just trying to help, and yes, people do have friends that will help each others out. May be its time you need to go find some friends like that. If you don't have anything good to offer, then I would prefer that you keep your smart comments to yourself. I already got accepted into 2 out of three schools that I applied to, so pray for egoistic self.
FYI in the future, they do look at your personal statement esp. when it comes to competing against others during the interviewing period. Rec. letters matter also. Just a little bit of tip from someone whos been there.

dont take posts so seriously on sdn...

to answer your question. include new things that happened in your life since you last applied... you can also not talk about "reapplying" because you got rejected last round at all if you like. you can even reuse the old one, update and polish it up for this round. its really up to you and play it by ear....i think if you have good intentions and you are qualified, your personal statement will reflect that and that will facilitate your admission....take a moment to think about it for yourself.
