I have like 4497 characters on word...but on AADSAS it shows 4520 characters & it wont save my PS. AADSAS is showing more characters than there is. Is anyone else having this problem???

Uh i was barely able to go under 4500...& now i have to cut off more 🙁

Did you indent in Word? If you did, then don't. Did you leave one or 2 spaces between sentences? - You should only be leaving one.

That's all I can think of now. If you've already taken care of those things, then I guess you just need to cut 20 characters somewhere, which is annoying but really not so horrible.

Good luck!

no, i didnt do any of those stuff. Its weird i typed it on word, single spaced but double space between 2 paragraphs, no indents, no 2 spaces btw sentences, no 2 spaces btw words. Still on word it shows less characters but AADSAS it shows more. That is so freaky!

Only do 1 space between paragraphs. which is common.

Try copying and pasting everything into a new word file and see if it says the same thing.

ms word does not treat "enter" as a character

but ADDSAS probably does

I had the exact same problem when I tried to paste mine in yesterday. AADSAS is definitely counting something that Word is not. I too had to find somewhere to delete 20 some characters.

I double checked this by randomly hitting enter anywhere in my PS and recounting the words. My version of word does count “enter” as a character.

I found it! AADSAS counts one enter as 2 characters. So everytime i form a new paragraph it counts 2 characters & then i hit enter again so that i would have double space between two paragraphs, & it counts 2 characters again. So to sum up AADSAS counts 4 characters between 2 paragraphs. I have total of 8 paragraphs, hence 7 double spaces ....which adds upto 28 characters. It looks really ugly if i dont keep double space between 2 paragraph, thats y i am not changing that. I deleted some unnecessary words.

thanks guys!👍

Just so you know, AADSAS states:
"Your personal essay will be formatted and printed in standard paragraph form before being sent to your designated dental schools as a part of your AADSAS application. It will not be sent to your designated dental schools in the format you view in the on-line application."
So if those 14 characters are important you might as well keep them.
