Hi all,

I hope everyone has been doing well and staying safe.

I am currently working on my PS and am stumped by a concluding paragraph, I'm just not sure what to include here. Does anyone have any advice? What did you guys put in your PS conclusion, if you are a doctor/adcom what do you like to see in a conclusion?

Thanks for the help!

Many students use the concluding paragraph to summarize their experiences and talk about why their background makes them well-suited for a career in medicine. Others use the last paragraph to finish a story. Any themes introduced in the beginning are often re-invoked at the end (sometimes too forcibly). Many also choose to include a 'mission statement' of sorts, talking about their career aspirations and goals or previewing the kind of doctor they will be. Through this 'mission statement', students will also demonstrate that they have a realistic understanding of what being a physician entails. If the personal statement is written well, the final paragraph should come as no surprise and flow naturally from the rest of the essay. This summarizes most of the personal statements that I've read. Best of luck.
