Can anyone recommend a great online personal statement editing service? Thanks 🙂
I actually need a professional editor not just a reviewer or proofreader. I know there are many online editing service providers that would turn your first draft into a professional one. I just can't decide which one is good.
Is there a point at which a professionally edited ps is no longer a personal statement?
I think some of the responses here might be harsh. Writing is a form of art. Some people aren't as good at writing as others, even though they would make an excellent dentist. Having someone help with the phrasing of his experiences is not a big deal IMHO if it will make him feel more confident and help paint a better and more accurate picture of who he is.
I'll accept that my wording may have been a bit a bit harsh, but the message is not. The OP stated that he is looking for someone to "turn [his] first draft into a professional one." Like doc inclined, that piece is most definitely NOT the OP's work.
It also suggests that the OP's personal statement is lacking in content, and that he (or she) is trying to find a roundabout way to find someone to tell him what to write - another big no-no. There is an entire list of people on here who have offered their crit services for free. I've personally done about 15 PS's this cycle, which is probably about 14 more than what the OP has read. I daresay that I (along with my fellow reviewers) have a relatively decent grasp of what is or is not acceptable/desirable in someone's PS. If s/he isn't capable of taking whatever criticism is received and modifying his or her own personal statement using his or her own words, then that suggests more than simply "not having the talent of writing."
