Hi everyone! I'm planning on applying to veterinary school in the next year or so. In the mean time, I'm trying to gain as much veterinary/animal experience as possible. An internship I'm going to apply to requires that I write a personal statement explaining why I want to join the program and what I can offer. I have searched many of the past threads/posts about personal statements, but they all seem to be catered to applying to veterinary school. I was wondering if anyone here has ever had to submit a personal statement for an internship. Was your format more or less the same as a personal statement for veterinary school or was it more like a cover letter? Any advice would be much appreciated 🙂

I've applied to quite a few internships and most require cover letters. But I'm pretty sure I've had to do personal statements as well. In that case, I just tweak the format slightly from the cover letter. Rather then addressing it to someone at the beginning and signing it at the end, I simply launch into the "essay" part. I've always kept them to one page or less. Let me know if you have other questions! I might be able to dig up a sample or two for you.
