Hey Guys!

I have a question about my personal statement. In the beginning of my freshman year, I was kinda stuck in the middle between dentistry and medicine, but I had an experience that made me decide I am definitely going to do dental. Is it fine to state that I was initially stuck in between dentistry and medicine, but I had such a great experience that I knew dentistry was for me? Or would saying that I was initially stuck in between the two sound like since I was indecisive then, there is a chance I can be indecisive in the future?

Eh, if you can get around saying it directly, I would. I think it is sort of *assumed* that we have considered medicine. That might not be the case for all of us, but I'd assume many have.

Here's how I'd attack it, for example: "For many years, I had considered my options in healthcare fields. However, it was not until my freshman year of college that my desire to practice dentistry was solidified. *talk about experience your "lightbulb moment" etc*"
That way, you aren't coming out and saying medicine directly, but it still gets the point across. I did something quite similar in my statement.

yeah, i totally agree with glimmer. when i started my undergrad i was initially psych, then pre-med, and then pre-dental haha. i addressed all of that in my PS. being unsure about your future in your early college years is totally normal, and the adcoms should understand. (as long as your clear about why you ultimately chose dentistry)

Kind of like elaborating to your current love interest on your past love affairs.
