I am trying to avoid having a space between each paragraph (so that the statement fits on one page based on the preview/print option). In order to do this, I need to indent each paragraph. When I make indentations for each paragraph, for some reason it does enable the first paragraph to contain an indentation. All the rest of the paragraphs seem okay....Any advice on how to fix this?

My word count for the personal statement is only about 580 words, so I feel like it is not too long.

I'm not able to indent the first paragraph either. Anyone know how to? What is everyone else doing, are people just leaving the first paragraph without an indentation?

nearly 1000 words will fit onto one page

The "print preview" page on the ERAS is not what the readers will see (that's just for you). What they see is a different formated page where nearly 1000 words will fit onto one page.

You are well well well within that limit. Just makes spaces.
