Hello, I got my final draft of my personal statement all ready, but it is a little over 4,500 characters. It is 4,780.

How strict is the 4,500 character limit? Is it really worth me cutting out sentences in order to meet this limit?

Thank you very much

you won't even be able to save the personal statement onto AADSAS if it's any longer than 4500 characters..
so, unfortunately, you HAVE TO cut it down

You should have no problem cutting down 280 characters.

I'm over by a few hundred characters as well. Is it a good idea to not skip any spaces after periods/sentences. Also there is no point in having paragraphs etc because once its inserted into the section on AADSAS and is printed out it all becomes one large essay, correct?

I was able to make my PS show up in paragraphs with lines between them, you just have to go in and manually put the paragraph spaces in by hitting enter after each paragraph and then indenting.

As far as skipping periods after spaces, only do one space, not two, but definitely at least do one. You DO NOT want to make it harder for them to read. An Adcom that has to strain their eyes to read your personal statement, when they've already had another few hundred to read that day already, is an Adcom that isn't going to look at your app very highly.

280 words can be fixed by deleting maybe 2-4 sentences or re-wording some words with no problem

Means you're not concise enough.

I'd say cut that puppy (your whole essay) down by about half....u don't wanna bore the hell outta the reader.
